Common Questions
Before you reach out
Do you accept insurance?
Yes — I accept most major commercial insurance plans in Hawaiʻi, including HMSA, UHA, and HMAA. Most of my clients have insurance coverage, and through HMSA the copay is $0. Other plans typically have copays in the $20–$25 range. If you're not sure whether your plan is accepted, just mention it when you reach out and I'll confirm right away.
How does telehealth work?
Sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform — similar to a video call, but with the privacy protections required for healthcare. All you need is a private space, a device with a camera, and a reliable internet connection. I work with clients throughout Hawaiʻi this way.
How often will we meet?
Frequency varies depending on your needs, goals, and insurance plan. Most clients begin by meeting weekly and adjust over time as things progress. We'll discuss what makes sense for your situation during the free consultation.
What if I'm not sure therapy is right for me?
That's exactly what the free consultation is for. There's no obligation — it's simply a chance to ask questions, get a sense of what therapy with me would be like, and decide if it feels right. Many people find that the uncertainty lifts once they've had that first conversation.
Do you work with adolescents?
Yes. I work with adolescents and their families across a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, identity, school-related stress, and relationship difficulties.
What areas of Hawaiʻi do you serve?
Because I offer therapy exclusively via secure telehealth, I can work with clients located anywhere in Hawaiʻi — Oahu, Maui, the Big Island, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, and beyond. You don't need to be in Honolulu to work with me.
